Gate City Bank’s partnership with Giving Hearts Day and the Dakota Medical Foundation started in 2014. The event has gone on to become one of the longest-running and most successful giving days in the country, providing a platform for North Dakota and northwest Minnesota charities to raise more than $100 million.
Through our partnership with Giving Hearts Day, we have donated over $1.2 million and more than 2,675 team member volunteer hours to nonprofits that play critical roles in our communities.
The Bank brings additional fun to Giving Hearts Day by facilitating nomination contests, offering matching gifts and making surprise boosts and more. (Boosts are bonus donations given to charities that are randomly drawn from the list of nominations.) Since the contest began, the Bank has received more than 330,000 Giving Hearts Day charity nominations and delivered 17 surprise charity boosts totaling $178,000.
In 2021, the Bank helped to support the Dakota Medical Foundation by donating a 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 truck as the grand prize for their first-ever Giving Hearts Day Sweepstakes.
“Seeing so much passion and support for our regional charities is nothing short of inspiring," said Kevin Hanson, Gate City Bank President & CEO. "Giving Hearts Day is a true testament to the goodness that lives in our communities, which is why Gate City Bank and our team members aim to give back more each year.”
