Gate City Bank Delivers Bouquets and Joy with Hope Blooms

Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness can make the biggest impact.

That’s the core philosophy behind Hope Blooms – a nonprofit organization that repurposes donated flowers by arranging them into beautiful bedside bouquets and delivering them to community members in need. Often, those recipients include hospice patients, individuals with long-term illnesses, residents in nursing homes, homebound seniors and families facing other difficult circumstances. In recent years, Hope Blooms has also expanded to serve frontline workers, women’s shelters, cancer centers, therapy clinics and more.

Recently Gate City Bank volunteers helped create and deliver more than 200 bouquets with Hope Blooms. Those efforts helped the nonprofit reach a new milestone in its five-year history: delivering nearly 40,000 flower bouquets throughout Fargo, ND, West Fargo, ND, Moorhead, MN, and the surrounding rural communities.

In 2021 alone, Gate City Bank has also donated $3,000 in matching team member gifts to Hope Blooms. “Gate City Bank has been absolutely incredible, and I can’t thank them enough for their enthusiasm and support of our mission,” says Kelly Krenzel, founder of Hope Blooms. “We’re honored to serve alongside their team.”

“At Gate City Bank, creating a better way of life for our communities guides everything we do,” adds Amanda Torok, Gate City Bank Senior Vice President of Culture. “It’s a joy and privilege for us to support Hope Blooms and help bring a little hope, happiness and healing to people who need it most.”

In fact, the charitable organization has become near and dear to the hearts of many team members at Gate City Bank.

“When my mom passed away in 2017, I heard about Hope Blooms from our hospice team and donated all of the funeral flowers in her honor,” says Sue Anderson, Gate City Bank Senior Vice President of Lending Solutions, who has continued to volunteer and support the organization through annual Giving Hearts Day donations. “Bringing a little sunshine to somebody’s day, especially during the darkest times, is what it’s all about.”
