The board of directors is key to helping us remain an employer of choice for team members and a champion for charitable giving and volunteerism in the communities we serve.

Board Chair

During his more than 42 years at Gate City Bank, Steve Swiontek provided distinguished leadership that has inspired the bank to create a better way of life for customers, communities and team members.

Other organizations Steve has served with include the North Dakota State University Development Foundation, Noridian Healthcare Solutions, City of Fargo Renaissance Zone Authority, Greater North Dakota Chamber, Young Professionals Network and the Chamber of Fargo, Moorhead and West Fargo.

Kevin J. Hanson

President & CEO, Gate City Bank

Kevin Hanson has spent his entire career at Gate City Bank, serving as President & CEO since 2019, which is also when he joined the board of directors. Throughout his more than 40 years with the bank, Kevin has worked tirelessly to support its core purpose of creating a better way of life.

Kevin currently serves on a number of local boards and committees, such as for the North Dakota Housing Finance Agency, American Bankers Association, Metro Area Transit and the Chamber of Fargo, Moorhead and West Fargo.

Sindy L. Keller

Controller/Senior Accountant, Brandt Holdings Company

Serving on Gate City Bank’s board of directors since January 2021, Sindy Keller brings 38 years of accounting, controlling and philanthropic experience.

Sindy has also served on boards for: Dakota Medical Foundation, which aims to improve the health and quality of life for people in the region; Lend a Hand Up, a nonprofit that helps local families in medical crisis; and First Lutheran Church Foundation, which promotes the faith and philanthropic mission of First Lutheran Church, locally and worldwide. She also serves as president of the church council at First Lutheran Church in Fargo.

Rodney A. Larson

Chief Health Policy Officer, American Academy of Neurology (Retired)

Rod Larson has served on Gate City Bank’s board of directors since January 1991. His diverse professional experience includes working with Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota as Assistant Vice President in Government Relations, and the American Academy of Neurology in St. Paul, MN, as Chief Health Policy Officer, as well as other roles, including with his family business.

From 1983-1992, Rod served as a North Dakota state legislator, sitting on the Industry, Business and Labor Committee.

Kimberly R. Meyer

EVP, Chief Human Resources Officer, Gate City Bank (Retired)

Kim Meyer was elected to Gate City Bank’s board of directors in July 2023, just a few months after retiring as the bank’s Executive Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer. Throughout her 37 years with the bank, Meyer played a significant role in establishing the company’s distinguished culture and reputation of being an employer of choice that attracts some of the region’s best talent.

During her time at Gate City Bank, Meyer was especially passionate about serving on the Military Support Committee, among other initiatives. Outside of work, she has also served on boards for Dakota Medical Foundation, North Dakota State University College of Business, North Dakota Bankers Association, YWCA Cass Clay, ShareHouse and Access of the Red River Valley.

Executive Director, Dakota Medical Foundation/Impact Foundation

Pat Traynor joined Gate City Bank’s board of directors in January 2010, bringing much of his professional experience from Dakota Medical Foundation (DMF). Under his leadership as Executive Director, DMF adopted a dynamic results-oriented strategic planning process and an aggressive grant-writing program that have secured over $10 million.

Pat serves as vice chair for both the Anne Carlsen Center for Children Foundation and North Dakota Safety Council, as well as a volunteer for Ducks Unlimited.
