Day Without Plastic Bags Donation

Fargo, ND - Gate City Bank has donated 30,000 reusable blue bags to customers at Hornbacher’s locations in Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo in honor of the Mayors’ proclamation of a Day without Plastic Bags (June 5). The public is invited to visit Hornbacher’s to shop and receive a free reusable blue bag, in place of a plastic or paper bag.

Gate City Bank has a tradition of giving away reusable blue bags since 2007. With over one million reusable blue bags donated since 2007, they are committed to creating cleaner, greener communities, and believe that it is their responsibility to make a difference in the communities they serve, For a Better Way of Life®. We are proud to say that using just one reusable bag saves 700 plastic bags from entering our environment. Over the past 10 years, they have helped save 700 million plastic bags from entering our environment.

In October 2017, Gate City Bank donated 15,000 reusable blue bags to Hornbacher’s customers for National Reusable Bag Day. In November 2017, Gate City Bank reached the milestone of providing one million reusable blue bags. In recognition of reaching the milestone of one million reusable blue bags, Gate City Bank announced a celebratory contest and a donation of $10,000 to the Emergency Food Pantry.

Community members are also invited to stop by any of Gate City Bank’s 36 locations in North Dakota and west central Minnesota to pick up a reusable blue bag.
