In the first 6 months of the year, Gate City Bank has given $426,015 to the communities they serve, impacting more than 269 organizations.
Gate City Bank supports their communities through philanthropic contributions, Acts of Kindness, volunteer efforts, My School Spirit program, BetterLife™ Student Loan program, and in-kind donations such as reduced interest rate loans for non-profit organizations across North Dakota and western Minnesota.
One of the community programs that Gate City Bank supports through financial contributions and volunteer efforts is the American Red Cross. Gate City Bank’s contribution provides the American Red Cross the ability to prepare and educate our communities in the event of a personal or community disaster. This includes canvassing neighborhoods to install smoke alarms in homes that do not have appropriate smoke alarms.
“The Dakotas Region of the American Red Cross is proud to partner with Gate City Bank. The support from Gate City allows our staff and volunteers to make communities more aware of the role each plays in fire safety. Community canvassing events, with the installation of smoke alarms, actually save lives and we could not be more grateful for Gate City’s role in this important initiative.” said Lynn Speral, Chief Development Officer/Interim Chief Executive Officer.
“Gate City Bank is proud to partner with the American Red Cross. They are truly making a difference in our communities.” said Amy Durbin, Marketing Manager at Gate City Bank. “We thank the American Red Cross for their dedication and commitment to providing a better way of life in the communities we serve.
The My School Spirit ATM & Check Card program is another way that Gate City Bank gives back to their communities. With this program, for every My School Spirit card ordered, Gate City Bank donates $5 to the designated school. Within nine months of the program’s inception, Gate City Bank has donated over $14,000 to 44 participating high schools and colleges.
The BetterLife™ Student Loan program continues to make life easier for those with student loan debt who want to purchase a home. Gate City Bank is making a difference with this program by offering a student loan with a low interest rate of 1% APR and no fees. This visionary program is another way Gate City Bank is giving back by providing a solution for an affordable student loan to get graduates into a home and encouraging them to stay in our communities. Since November this program has helped 145 individuals get into a home.
