Churches United Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony
October 17, 2016
MOORHEAD, MINNESOTA – October 17, 2016 - Churches United for the Homeless held a groundbreaking ceremony on Monday, October 17th at 3305 3rd Avenue North to celebrate the start of construction on the Bright Sky Apartments. This 43-unit apartment complex is an $8.5 million project and will include apartments with up to four-bedrooms, as well as a community space for homeless individuals and families.
Building and financing for this project were the result of collaboration between Beyond Shelter, Inc. and the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency. Gate City Bank is also providing low-interest construction financing.
“This project is an important step in providing more stability for families seeking decent, affordable housing in Moorhead,” said Sue Koesterman, Executive Director for Churches United of the Homeless. “It will ensure that families and individuals experiencing hardship are able to access the housing and services that they need to regain stability. This is a huge project and the continued financial support of the community is essential to its success.”
“Access to affordable housing is a critical first step toward financial stability,” said Kevin Hanson, Executive Vice President-Director of Lending at Gate City Bank. “Helping build a better quality of life within our communities is part of Gate City Bank’s philosophy. We’re honored to partner with non-profit organizations such as Churches United by providing the low-interest construction financing needed.”
