FARGO, ND – Prairie Business magazine has named Crystal Coalwell, Deputy Chief Risk Officer and Chief Compliance Officer for Gate City Bank in Fargo to its Top 25 Women in Business list.
Each year, the magazine honors 25 women in business who bring a wealth of experience, depth of knowledge and strong leadership qualities to their workplace and industry. Prairie Business chooses honorees from nominations throughout North and South Dakota and western Minnesota.
As a Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) with the American Bankers Association and with nearly 20 years of experience in the industry, Coalwell brings extensive knowledge and expertise to her role. Her optimistic leadership, deep risk expertise and ability to guide teams through change while navigating evolving regulatory landscapes make a powerful impact on Gate City Bank and our community.
Originally from Sabin, Minn., Coalwell earned her associate’s degree in business administration from Strayer University. She is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business studies, with a minor in banking from the University of Jamestown.
Outside of work, Coalwell serves as president of the Atonement Lutheran Church board of directors, and she’s a member of the YWCA board of directors. She also volunteers with Jefferson Elementary School’s parent teacher association and Feed My Starving Children MobilePack. During her free time, she enjoys reading and being with her family, often traveling or camping.
“I’m truly honored to be named among Prairie Business magazine’s Top 25 Women in Business,” said Coalwell. “This recognition reflects the incredible teams I work alongside and the supportive community that inspires me every day. I’m grateful for the opportunity to lead, learn and give back through work that truly matters.”
To Coalwell, being a Gate City Bank team member means being part of something bigger.
“It’s about being a part of the community, giving back and striving to grow together,” she said. “We set standards to best serve our customers and our communities because we believe it’s about doing what’s right because it’s right.”
