Fargo, ND – Gate City Bank is stepping up to support Transportation Security Administration (TSA) workers and other impacted federal employees across North Dakota and Minnesota.
Gate City Bank is lending a helping hand to TSA and federal workers who are experiencing financial strain, due to the partial government shutdown freezing funding for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
In response to the ongoing disruption to federal pay, the bank is offering its BetterLife™ Relief Loan to those directly impacted by delayed or missed paychecks. Available with zero interest and no fees, this short-term loan is designed to help TSA workers and other impacted federal government employees manage essential expenses while awaiting their wages.
Eligible employees can borrow up to $5,000 through the single-pay loan, which does not require any payments until the final due date. The program is available to qualified federal workers within the bank’s service area, even if they are not currently Gate City Bank customers.
“We recognize the critical role TSA workers play in keeping our transportation systems safe, and we understand how stressful it can be to miss a paycheck,” said Kim Settel, Gate City Bank Executive Vice President and Chief Retail Banking Officer. “Missing a paycheck can be overwhelming, especially when families are trying to manage basic needs such as groceries and utility payments. Our goal is to help ease that financial burden so these individuals and their families can focus on getting through this challenging time.”
In addition to relief loans, Gate City Bank is also offering assistance to TSA workers and other federal government employees who may need flexibility with existing loan payments.
“When the community is facing hardship, we believe it’s our responsibility to step up and help,” Settel said. “Supporting TSA workers and other impacted federal employees during this partial shutdown reflects our values and our long-term commitment to the communities we serve.”
This is the second time Gate City Bank has activated its BetterLife™ Relief Loan to support federal workers affected by a government shutdown in the past year. The bank also offered a zero‑interest, no‑fee loan during the shutdown last fall, offering financial relief to federal employees facing delayed paychecks and uncertainty around essential expenses. By reinstating the program, Gate City Bank continues its commitment to providing timely, practical support during periods of economic disruption affecting the communities it serves.
TSA and other federal workers experiencing financial hardship due to the partial government shutdown are encouraged to contact Gate City Bank at 800-423-3344 or 701-293-2400, reach out to a lender or email OnlineBanking@GateCity.Bank. Assistance is also available at any Gate City Bank location.
