What is mobile deposit?

Mobile check deposits using the Gate City Bank mobile app are protected. Security features include enhanced security measures such as password protection, data encryption and internet firewalls to guard against unauthorized access.

Check images and other private information are not stored within the mobile app or on your phone, making a check deposit with the mobile app as safe as using online banking.

When you register for mobile deposit, you’ll receive an email with your personalized limits. You can also find your limits per deposit displayed on the mobile deposit screen. Simply click "Deposit" on the bottom menu, then the "Deposit Check" button. From there, under the name(s) of your deposit account options, you'll notice a small byline that includes your deposit limit for the selected account. Limits may change based on your account activity.

There are a number of reasons why checks may not be able to be deposited using the mobile app:

• Folded or torn corners.
• The front image is not legible.
• The amount entered doesn’t match the amount read by the scanning software.
• The routing and account numbers are unclear.
• The image is too dark.
• Endorsements are missing from the front or back of the check.
