- We will charge you a fee of $32 each time we pay an NSF.
- Also, if your account is overdrawn for 5 or more consecutive days, we will charge an additional $8 per day, beginning on the 5th day.
- There is no limit on the total fees we can charge you for NSF transactions on your account.
We do authorize and pay NSFs for the following types of transactions:
- Checks and other transactions made using your checking account number
- Automatic bill payments
We do not authorize and pay NSFs for the following types of transactions unless you ask us to (see below):
- ATM transactions
- Everyday debit card transactions
We pay NSFs at our discretion, which means we do not guarantee that we will always authorize and pay any type of transaction. If we do not authorize and pay an NSF, your transaction will be declined or returned.
The day a deposit shows up in your account largely depends on how it’s deposited:
If you have questions about when your deposit will post to your account, please contact us. We will be happy to assist you!
When opening a checking account, you have the ability to choose whether or not you would like Gate City Bank to consider paying ATM withdrawals and everyday debit card transactions when the funds are not available in your account. If you would like to change your selection at any time, simply give us a call, send us a message from online banking or stop by one of our convenient locations.
An overdraft fee occurs when you try to spend more money than you have available in your checking account. Rather than denying the transaction, the bank will allow the purchase by advancing the funds to cover the purchase, with a nominal charge to your account.
Overdraft fees can involve check, ACH or debit card transactions. Some banks will occasionally forgive an overdraft fee to help you cover other essential expenses from your account. However, it’s best to review your bank’s account agreements to understand the policy on handling overdrafts.
After submitting the mobile deposit, you’ll receive a reference number and status for it. When your deposit is accepted, it may take up to one business day1 to appear in your account. If your deposit is held for review, you’ll receive an email notification when your mobile deposit is either approved or declined.
Please check your email within a business day of your deposit. You’ll be able to see the status of current and past deposits by selecting the “View History” icon (folder) at the top right of the mobile deposit screen.
1 Mobile deposits are not processed on weekends or federal holidays.
