As a service to our customers, Gate City Bank considers allowing the use of a debit card when there is not enough money available in an account. This provides a safety net that may prevent customers from having their card declined in emergency situations or if they have made an error in balancing their account. Please read the "What You Need to Know About Overdrafts and Overdraft Fees" information for complete information about our practices regarding these transactions. We need your permission if you would like us to consider covering these transactions.

What You Need to Know About Overdrafts and Overdraft Fees.

An overdraft occurs when you do not have enough money in your account to cover a transaction, but we pay it anyway. At Gate City Bank, we refer to these as non-sufficient funds (NSF) transactions. We offer the ability to pay for these NSF transactions and cover them in two different ways:

We have standard NSF practices that come with your account.
We also offer overdraft protection options, such as a link to a savings account, a checking reserve line of credit and a classic overdraft line of credit, which may be less expensive than our standard NSF practices. To learn more, simply give us a call at 800-423-3344.
